Welcome

The University of Edinburgh will host AIMday Circular Economy on 9 & 10 March 2022.

What is AIMday?

AIMday® (Academic Industry Meeting day) is based on workshops where challenges submitted by participating companies around a central theme are discussed with academics from relevant university disciplines.

AIMday Circular Economy

The scale of the climate emergency and ecological crisis as well as the urgency with which action is required cannot be overstated. We can still avoid the worst impacts of these growing crises and the circular economy is a key part of the solution. With nearly half of greenhouse gas emissions arising from the things we make and use, transitioning to a circular economy is crucial for tackling the climate emergency, halting resource depletion, preventing biodiversity loss and regenerating our natural world.

A circular economy is restorative and regenerative by design. Resources are kept in circulation for as long as possible; everything has value, and nothing is wasted. The Circular Economy Centre at the University of Edinburgh accelerates the circular transition for businesses and other organisations by providing research, education and innovation support across a range of areas.

The vision for this AIMday is to allow participating companies and organisations to access the knowledge, technology and expertise they need to be part of the transition to a circular economy: exploring new opportunities to leverage innovative technologies, developing alternative business models, partnering with others to develop fully circular supply chains and thinking differently about how business can be done.

Our Expertise

Join us at AIMday Circular Economy to access expertise across the University’s breadth of circular economy research and innovation, including alternative products and materials; circular infrastructure and energy; circular business models, finance and policy; circular food systems and natural regeneration; and human health and wellbeing.

How to participate

To participate in AIMday, you need to submit at least one challenge phrased as a question, which you wish to discuss in a small workshop setting.

Each question submitted by a company is tackled by a group of multi-disciplinary academics with the aim of finding pathways to solutions.

One question, one hour, a group of academic experts: that is the AIMday format!

Register your attendance at AIMday Circular Economy by submitting your question(s) on the registration page for organisations by Monday 17 January 2022.

We are happy to help you come up with or phrase appropriate question(s), so please do get in touch with us at Edinburgh.Innovations@ed.ac.uk.
