I would like to understand more about how numerical techniques can help with prediction of free surface behaviour during filling of solid/liquid mixes of food

The query is around weight control and hygiene performance of filling stations.

We are looking to retrofit a ship's propellor with a casing that is filled with pipes in a honeycombed formation. How can we minimise drag and turbulence while maintaining the velocity of the water (ships propulsion)?

It would look like an Azipod drive but without the benefit of turning the propulsion system to aid steerage.

What new / existing proteins offer a more robust and versatile alternative to gluten providing dough rheology, structure and extensibility to the gluten free system?

Most proteins only offer one or two functionalities at best, egg albumen is generally used but this only provides structure and limited dough rheology. Egg also excludes gluten free from vegan diets.

What factors affect the structure of the starch granules present in a gluten free dough system and how do these impact on the hydration and dough rheology?

Dough rheology is critical to the creation of bakery products, little information is known about gluten free dough and what key parameters should be assessed. Hydration of the materials is thought to be critical.

Can CFD tell whether objects will be struck by tidal turbine blades?

We are interested in the feasibility of CFD approaches to the
probability of fish and similar objects being entrained in flow
around tidal turbines and thereby avoiding being struck by rotating
blades. We tried to fund a project about 3 years ago but it failed
because it was too difficult for CFD capabilities at the time. Issues included the shape of the objects in the flow, their bouyancy, and that fish etc have their own motive power. An expert opionion
as to whether it would now be possible would be useful to us.

If it is possible for you to address this question,I should be able to provide the report from the failed project, if that would be helpful.

What different factors should be considered when measuring varying process water flow rates. Are there improved or new approaches/methods that can be applied as alternatives, or in conjunction with, the current ultrasonic or magnetic instrument types?”

We are specialists in manufacturing chlorine dioxide dosing processes for water treatment purposes. During process commissioning, we have come up against a variety of flow instruments - magnetic and ultrasonic instruments seem to be the most prolific.
