How can Cytiva collaborate with stakeholders at Uppsala University to effectively reach students that might be interested in carrying out their master thesis projects at Cytiva in Uppsala? How do we create an easy and repeatable process/format for Cytiva to collect the necessary information (project description, desired educational background, required skills, etc.) for UU to share with students via relevant channels in a timely manner?

Historically, Talent Acquisition at Cytiva has struggled to present relevant master thesis project to students at Uppsala University in a structured and predictable manner. A large number of students reach out to managers and Talent Acquisition representatives every year, wondering about potential opportunities to conduct their master thesis project with the company. Typically, these requests are received late in the year, and it can oftentimes be difficult to match students with the right opportunity or come up with a potential project ad hoc. Setting up a satisfactory process for collecting, posting and interviewing students for master thesis projects at Cytiva could be an interesting way of strengthening ties between industry and academia.

    – How can Cytiva and UU work together to promote PAT development and its applications?
    – Which programs/courses would be best suited to educate our future PAT engineers?

Process Analytical Technology (PAT) is a method used in the process industry to monitor and control manufacturing processes. The goal of PAT is to understand, monitor and control critical process parameters (CPP) that affect the critical quality attributes (CQA) of the product. This is done using various inline measurement techniques (e.g. Raman, NIR, NMR, etc.) but also with so-called “soft sensors”.

How to increase Cytiva employer brand among IT students in Uppsala?

Cytiva is one of the largest IT employers in Uppsala but the organization is more known among biotech or chemistry students. We would like to increase awareness among IT students that Cytiva is an employer with 150+ employees within Software Engineering. In the future, we also consider a graduate program for IT students.

How to increase awareness of Cytiva job opportunities among students?

In average, Cytiva Uppsala has around 30 openings at any given time. Some of them are suitable for early talent. During March / April each we post around 50 summer worker positions. The objective is to increase visibility of these openings among students. The talent acquisition team finds Uppsala University difficult to navigate when it comes to post a job opening.

How can we explore potential research collaborations in the area of mRNA/Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) use in therapeutic applications?

We are interested to discuss and explore common research interests between Cytiva and UU in the area of LNPs-mRNA and their use in e.g immuno-oncology applications (both one-to-many and personalized cancer therapies) and/or their increased role in ex-vivo or in-vivo cell therapies

What innovative approaches can be unravelled in the isolation and purification of biological compounds from a comprehensive systems perspective?

The advancement of biological purification demands integration of multiple orthogonal techniques (centrifugation, filtration, chromatography, microfluidics) supported by sophisticated analytical methods. How can new synergies be unravelled at the systems level?

How do Cytiva want to collaborate within education?
How do we reach out to the courses and programmes that could benefit from the partnership?

Collaboration in education can take many forms: site visits, guest lectures, internships, project courses, mentorship programmes, real-world cases in courses, degree projects, participation in boards, to name a few. I would like to discuss what forms could be of interest for both UU and Cytiva.

How can Uppsala University contribute to the skills development/continuing education of Cytiva’s (current) employees?

It would be valuable to gain an understanding of the skills development needs across different employee groups, as well as which subject areas would be particularly relevant to focus on. It’s also important to consider what scope would be realistic and what format would best suit the employees’ circumstances and needs – for instance, whether the training should be digital, on-site, scheduled, or more flexible.
