It is clear that the consumption of processed foods (sugar, meats etc) is a major contributory factor towards long-term health conditions and the associated increased demands on health services. What are the options for Big Food to produce new products that on the one-hand - keep people illness-free for longer - and on the other hand - increase this industry’s contribution to GDP around the World.

As the largest arts festival in the world, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe remains a significant milestone on the career path of performers and producers across the world and is the largest arts industry conference and market place in existence. Centred around an open access principle where there is no central curation or artistic direction, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is the organisation that underpins the infrastructure and development of the festival in its broadest sense. Largely dependant on generated income through registration, ticket commission and fees, the Fringe Society is immediately protected from cuts to arts funding locally and nationally due to the relatively small value of this income. However, the supply chain to the Festival Fringe; the performance companies, venues and producers, are not protected and the impact of cuts already undertaken and currently proposed will see the ability of organisations to bring their work to the festival diminish, which poses a significant risk to the stability of both the Festival Fringe and the Fringe Society. We would like to understand both these codependencies and the models of success for national and international organisations that produce work both within and outside of traditional arts funding models to enable a fuller understanding of the risk portfolio.

What behavioural, cultural and psychological factors contribute the assessment and reporting of risk, and how can these be accounted for when attempting to consistently assess risk across a diverse, global organisation?

Traditional risk assessment methodology tends towards "one-size" fits all approaches to reporting, scoring and assessing the strength of mitigations and controlling activities. While this drives consistency, the modern organisation is considerably diverse both in the background and culture of staff, for example staff from a wide range of disciplines, geographical locations and even organisations working together for a common goal. As a result radically different intent when reporting risk may be communicated in the same way by blunt scoring models.

In order to improve organisational resilience, what business processes and policies should we develop to actively identify and manage strategic risks within the business and drive a corresponding and effective business continuity capability?

The Parliament has a strategic risk management process and a developed business continuity capability. We recognise that these two areas of governance may benefit from being part of a unified process and any assistance in helping us identify what that could be would be beneficial.
