Creating your question
Questions that are concrete, clear and that could be discussed without secrecy work best for the AIMday format. It is also preferable that at least two company representatives join a discussion around the question in order for a better balance with academics in the workshops.
Here are some examples of questions that have been submitted by companies for previous AIMday events:
Q: Is it possible to develop cost effective thin polymer films with cheap fillers like for instance wood powder, see WPC (Wood Plastic Composites)?
Q: We would like to understand more about how numerical techniques can help with prediction of free surface behaviour during filling of solid/liquid mixes of food
Q: What factors affect the structure of the starch granules present in a gluten free dough system and how do these impact on the hydration and dough rheology?
Q: What mechanisms cause relaxation/creep in porous materials, i.e. cellulose based materials, at different mechanical loads. How can you influence these mechanisms?
Q: Are there materials and methods to separate small particles, bacteria and viruses from a gas flow?
Q: Is it possible to predict how forging and rolling affect re-crystallisation in steel?
The team are always happy to provide assistance with formulating your question in order to attract the widest academic audience to the workshop. Please do not hesitate to contact us at crm@ed.ac.uk
