HOW AIMday WORKS
- Each question or challenge submitted by a company is tackled by a group of academics across university disciplines, with the aim of finding a pathway to a solution.
- The AIMday workshop format consists of one question per hour, discussed by a group of five to seven academic experts.
- This format has proven to be successful in developing useful contacts and collaborations.
THE AIMday PROCESS
Step 1: Submission of questions from organizations
Organizations are invited to submit their industry challenges formulated as one or more questions. It is recommended that organizations add background information related to their question. The question is submitted to the AIMday event in advance through the registration page. Submission of at least one question becomes the entrance ticket for an organization to attend free of charge.
Step 2: Researchers sign up for questions
Questions are then gathered and presented to researchers from different disciplines. The researchers decide which questions they have a special interest in and would like to take part in discussing.
Step 3: Matchmaking and formation of groups
The AIMday event organizer oversees the logistics and develops the day’s schedule, ensuring a multidisciplinary constellation of each discussion group. For a question to be workshopped, a minimum number of researchers must be identified for the discussion group to proceed.
Step 4: Meeting day
Every question is discussed for one hour − no more, no less. The size of each workshop group is generally seven to 12 people.
Step 5: Follow-up
Approximately a month after the AIMday event, the organizer follows up on the meetings and, if necessary, offers the organization with assistance to get projects or other forms of collaborations going.
