About Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Hallam University is one of the UK’s largest and most diverse universities, with around 32,000 students from across the globe studying more than 700 courses, supported by 4,500 staff.

In 2021, we were awarded Outstanding Entrepreneurial University of the year at the Times Higher Education Awards, demonstrating our commitment to supporting businesses and driving student entrepreneurship. We turn the latest knowledge into practical solutions that make a positive impact on people, processes, and profits.

Sheffield Hallam is one of the UK’s leading new universities for generating new ideas and technology. Yet our partners say it’s how we turn academic expertise into real world applications that really sets us apart. It’s about delivering and demonstrating bottom line impact.

The Research Institutes are responsible for supporting multidisciplinary, pan-university challenge-led research and innovation activity; promoting engagement and collaboration with external organisations; and informing interventions through the research strengths and capabilities.
